Free HCIA Certification and Courses by Huawei | Complete Steps from Voucher Request to Start the Exam

Huawei is one of the most popular technology vendors in the world. Huawei is not only manufacturing network devices. Futhermore, Huawei is also manufacturing gadgets (i.e. mobile phones, laptops, smart tv), including its components (i.e. CPU, and the OS software), some technologies also developed by Huawei such as 5G, and Huawei also provides cloud services.

In Indonesia, we often find Huawei network devices at service providers environment. Some people argue, Huawei is a big competitor to other vendors (i.e. cisco, juniper, nokia) in the field of network technology.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, Huawei is providing free digital skills training. You can enroll some Huawei courses on iLearningX by Huawei. Furthermore, if you are eligible, you can take HCIA certification for free.

There are several tracks that you can choose to learn. Some legacy track such as Routing and Switching, WLAN, and Security. There are also tracks that are trending right now, such as: Cloud Computing, Cloud Services, Big Data, Artificial Intelegent (AI), and 5G.

Well, here is how to get a free course and certification (HCIA level) from Huawei.

Based on my experience, you can join the Lean ON program even though the program is not for your country. With a note that you can fulfill the procedures provided by Huawei (if there are).

1. Study material.

On the program link above, there are some online self-study courses and webinars. You can enroll the course and start learning. Also, you can attend the webinars.

Click the course that you want and enroll it, maybe you must create Huawei account if you don't have one.

If you feel you have understood the material, to test your knowledge, you can take the final exam in each course.

There are also courses for other fields and levels, there are courses for the HCIP and HCIE levels. Fore details, check in this link: Huawei Courses and Mock Pre-test Exams.

2. Apply for Free Certification Exam Voucher.

To get free a HCIA exam voucher, you must get (minimal) 60 points on HCIA Pre-test. Go to step 3 on this page: Huawei Certification Digital Skills Programme UK 2020 or another link based on country of Learn On program that you choices. There are several tracks that you can choose. To run this pre-test exam, you must use Windows or MAC for the operating system and Google Chrome for the browser.

You have 3 attempts to pass. If you have passed the exam (have a score of 60 or more). You can apply for the voucher on this UK link this link. If you are using the program for a country other than the UK, the link is different, please check the program page for the country you are participating in.

After you open the page. Fill all data correctly. You will receive an email for the voucher and the next instructions, soon, usually 10 days. I don't know exactly how long you have to wait, but I applied on 30th June and received the exam voucher on 11th July.

Note: In some countries, you request a voucher by sending an email to the appropriate contact listed on the relevant event page. You need to capture your exam score and attach it to the email.

3. Sechedule the Exam.

After you receive an email containing the exam voucher, see the figure above. You can use it to book a HCIA exam through this link: Sechedule your Huawei exam.

Fill in the "Authorization Code" with the code that you can see in the email that you got or in the Huawei Learn ON program page. Then click search.

If the authorization code is valid, you can fill in the next form containing the exam type, language, and exam date / time. Then use the voucher that you have to get a 100% discount. So you don't need to pay or enter payment information. Click Next and Submit.

4. Take the Exam.

The exam is web based, like the pre-test (mock) exam. You can take it from home.

On the day of the exam. To start your exam, go to this link: My Appointment. Hover on your exam appointments and click start. Make sure you are using Google Chrome on Windows or Mac platform.

If you redirected to login page, login with your related Huawei account. Then you will be directed to this page. Click start exam.

Next, enter your identity (make sure it correct). And click confirm. Then, the exam will be started.

When the exam started. You are not allowed to exit the exam page, switch to another tabs, change working window, including opening the notification center or just pressing your windows / mac keyboard button to open the launcher. All that is not allowed, you are only allowed to open the exam page and take the exam. If you break it, you will be warned. If you get 3 warnings, you will not be able to continue your exam.
